How to fix this drag and drop/UAC issue?

I'm using an old version of Adobe Audition (version 1.5) with Windows 8 and it works fine except for one thing - I can't drag and drop audio files into the program.

If I change the value of the EnableLUA registry key to 0, which completely disables User Account Control, drag and drop works in Audition but then of course Metro apps will not work.

Running Audition with administrator privileges doesn't allow drag and drop.

Is there any way to fix this? Any way to make Audition exempt from UAC in some way, as it seems to be that that's preventing drag and drop from working?

Thanks!

You can try compatibility mode. I said "try" because it might or might not work.

You'll need to specify, in what i found out, Windows XP SP3 compatibility and see if that alone (no run as admin) will do better.

Thanks for the reply, Hopachi. I gave that a go and tried out all of the various modes, but it's still no go with dragging and dropping unfortunately.

That means the program is indeed too old for Win8.

That's not a good reason to stay on XP as your main system.

Still, you can still use it fine by installing it in a XP virtual machine and use it there without problems.
Recommended for this would be the free VMware Player:
VMware Player: Run Windows 8, Chrome OS on a Virtual PC
