Hello
I hope this is the right section as I did not find an imaging place.
I used Acronis for years with Win 7 without a problem but whenever I tried to install the newer releases I was rejected without an error message. I inserted my disc and it installed.
I am only concerned that my image will work when needed. I have a system image and when I used the disc, I could find my backup which appeared ok.
I had to rename it as I still have a Win 7 in there too and hope it will not corrupt either image.
I tried the Acronis forum but got no replies with two attempts. I also have the Win 8 native restore program imaged.
Why can't I use the newer Acronis versions and am I ok staying as I am?
Thank you
Peter

You need the Acronis 2013 version for Win 8. I tried to install my 2012 version and the Acronis program reported it was not compatible with Win 8 and would not install. I tried installing the 2012 version in a Win 7 compatibility mode and it still did not work.

I purchased the Acronis 2013 upgrade version (since I had 2012) and it installed and works without problems.

I recently upgraded the firmware in my OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (the drive I use for Win 8). I did a full drive backup to my backup hard drive (a USB 3.0 connected drive) first as the firmware updates erase all data on the SSD. After the firmware upgrades, I did a restore from the backup without problems.

Acronis

I am responding to 2 posts;
First post, thank you for the referrals.
Secondly, it sounds as though although my Acronis 2010 installed and I can view all backups with the rescue disc, you are telling me to not use it and to buy 2013. I am disappointed but what is, is.
I will uninstall it and use Macrium along with the native Win 8 program.
Thanx both

I use Acronis True Image Home ver 13 on my Win8 PC and have had no issues with it. I seem to remember reading somewhere that v13 is required for Win8.

It seems that is the case. I am using Macrium and the native program as a backup.
