I have recently tired to install 7zip, WinRAR, and WinZip, but for all of them the results are the same. I double click the setup, but nothing happens. I allow it administrative access, but after that, nothing happens. No window or notification pops up.

I installed WinRAR on the Windows 8 desktop without any issues.

They should install flawlessly but sometimes, depending on system settings they don't.

If 7zip, with other words 7zFM.exe is somehow acquired, then you could use it to extract Winrar and probably Winzip installer with it too.

Try the portableapps installer of portable 7zip:
7-Zip Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives

Then if this one works you can extract the Winrar installer with it and put all contents in a WinRar folder.
Putting that WinRar folder to Program Files and running WinRar.exe means basically installing it. :)

If (all) the installers fail then this is the only option:
If the portable 7zip doesn't install then I'm afraid you'll need to get the installed copy from another pc or OS where it's already installed: copy "7-Zip" folder from Programs Files and then transfer that to Win8 and use it.

Running 7zFM.exe is the Key here. If you run it as admin you can then assign file types and add context menu (right click) options.
Then if 7zip works, the WinRar extraction usage can be optionally perrformed as wel if WinRar is needed.

This is a pretty manual install procedure.

Hope this helps.
