Hey guys! I am new to this forums, and I have my metro apps basically sitting there in start menu, and pretty much none of them works.

Mine is Windows 8 pro and I can't even login to a Microsoft account in Users settings. The only thing that seems to work is Windows Update, and no app that needs to connect to internet, doesn't work at all.

For example, when I open my News app, those balls rotate for a while and the app basically minimizes or whatever and never did I read news in it except when I was using the good old developer previews. Perhaps the most frustrating among them is the Store app, which always shows that "Try again" message and never really "tries again".

When I try to switch to Microsoft account, it says "Sorry we can't connect to Microsoft services at this moment. If the problem persists, search for Network problems in start screen"... something like that. When I run the troubleshooter (trying to connect to microsoft.com), even if I explore advanced options - it basically says I have no problem at all.

Just to add something: I was at my college some days before, and I changed my proxy settings using netsh for windows update and hoping metro apps work. None of those "social" apps or news apps worked. Not to mention, they don't work even after I reset my proxy settings using netsh. So, I don't think the problem might be due to that, but this is just fyi.

Are they being blocked by your Firewall?

Nope. I use the default Windows Firewall. I've disabled it and checked it again - same result. :(

what's your video card?

Mine is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 model graphics with 512 MB memory. I don't know, but do video cards affect metro apps in some way?

EDIT: I have updated all my System specs. in my profile. :)

hmm... Not really a direct solution, I just want to reveal that the problem is solved and metro apps are working, after I "refreshed" the Windows 8. Anyway, thanks for the help guys! :)

Bad thing is that I have to install all the programs and drivers again. :(
