Brink. Many thanks...
the extension is .ghr
Here you go. You would just need to download and merge the .reg file below, click on Run, Yes, Yes (UAC) if prompted, and OK to approve, then restart the computer to fully apply.
Here's the contents of the .reg file.
Code:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ghr] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.ghr] [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.ghr]
Brink. Thanks. The patch appears to have fixed the registry entry under FileExts for .ghr, but the file still appears with the icon for a notepad file and also opens under notepad when I double click on it.
but, when I do a Properties, Open With...it doesn't list any associated programs.
ignore my previous...under Properties, Open With...it still indicates that the .ghr files open with Notepad. This is the case even if I run the patch again and restart again.
Use find and find next in regedit to search for ghr, then post back with screenshots showing any results found. This will find any remnant entries of ghr to modify the .reg file to fully unassociate it.
Brink...one step ahead of you...
went through registry and found that it had created a ghr_auto_file. Deleted these and any references to them and restarted.
All is well now.
Thanks very much for your help. Very much appreciated
