Welcome to EightForums, Sam49. Good to have you.

I've been using 8 since early June and never heard of this, not to say it doesn't works this way. Why not just let it update? Or perhaps there's a setting in Java via Control Panel not to update. Just curious as to why you wouldn't want it to update.

Again, welcome. :)

Hi HippsieGypsie
Thank you for the welcome to this forum
Well I have had to give in and let Java update it has beenasking me several times a day to let the update proceed and I have finally had enough and I’ve let it update just to get rid of the annoying message (Javaneeds to update)
The reason I did not want Java is I read somewhere there wasa security problem with Java and I just did not want it on my computer if I hada choice.
The other reason I did not want to let it update was the constantasking me to update what do I need Java for anyway.
Regards to you all

Ok. Good. Personally I've never heard of a security issue with Java, although I don't know everything. It is a extensively used program. I'm sure the evil coders will infiltrate via it.

Perhaps you're confusing it with Flash Player? There was a security issue with it that seems to have gotten resolved.

Hi Sam49,
If you don't want the Java Updater reminder, disable it in Task Manager.
