Solved EXE files are not running

I am using a Win 8 Pro version. I want to install some image processors and hv downloaded the exe setup files.
But when I try to run the exe setup (either by dbl click or rt click run as admin), in either cases nothing happens. I just see the initial User Access Control window asking me if I want to allow make changes to my PC with a YES/NO option, but on clicking YES nothing happens.

This is happening to all exe setups which I try to run. Any idea what could it be.. Have also unblocked the exe files before running, but the same prob....

Any hints, comments appreciated.

That depends what programs those are. Can you provide extra details, at least names and versions?

Thanks for your reply. I must say that it was an error on my part that I was trying to install a setup exe which was not Windows 8 compatible. So that answers my question as to why it dint work .
I thereafter tried to install VLC player (win8 compatible ver) and the installation worked fine without any error.
BTW: I was trying to install Fast Stone image viewer which does not (yet) have a Win8 compatible version.

Only for an image viewer, I think the built-in Windows Photo Viewer is enough. For some other exotic formats, open them with GIMP (free) or Photoshop which are compatible.
