Solved Windows 8 Won't Let Me Install Java

Trying to install Java on a new Dell XPS8500 (Gen 3 i7) with native Windows 8. When I run the installer it tells me that Java RTE is already installed and do I want to install again? When I click "Yes" it tells me that it can't re-install (or something like that).

The thing is that Java is NOT installed. (I checked in the CP).

Any ideas?

I used laplink to move java from my old pc to the new one. Everything is now working fine.

But I still don't understand why the Java website wouldn't let me do a clean install.

however, I am now good to go.
