I just can't play any songs. Can download them and sync with other devices. Can't play them though. It's killing me.

BUMP, problem still persists. Even installed the latest Music update but that didn't fix anything.

I should have given more information.
I am only trying to stream the songs. I have no songs on my laptop at the moment, the app works fine except for the streaming songs thing. Firstly, a drivers related message popped up, fixed it and now this.

still not sure what you are doing, streaming songs from xbox to pc via smartglass app?

make sure your anti-virus and firewall settings are blocking the stream I guess.

I am using the Music App on my Windows 8 as you can see in the screenshot. When I'm on my xbox, I can use the app normally. However, when I try to use it on my laptop I get this error. It's the same process, I just can't play anything with this app on my laptop. I don't use an antivirus and I'm pretty sure the app is not blocked.

Are you signed into Xbox Music?
Of course, I can sign into the app normally and even download information with it, for example, I made a playlist on my xbox, the windows app will sync with it.

Hmm, from your screenshot it looks like you're trying to stream music, unless if you have the Halo 4 OST (the soundtrack is nice but not the best) in your Music library.

I'm going to assume you've already tried looking up the error code?

Neil Davidge has done an amazing job with the OST, the results speak for themselves. First video game soundtrack to ever enter in the top 50 chart. My laptop is quite clean, it has no music, videos or pictures. So yea, I am trying to stream music.

I already looked up the error but the closest result I could get was about making a registry key which would help the system recognize my sound card. Problem is I don't have a sound card so naturally, nothing changed.

I liked it, but I'm more inclined to the classic soundtracks. I really liked ODST's OST as that really had more of an emotional feel to it as the game itself really showed a straight up struggle. Halo 4, I'd need to play it to understand it as the soundtrack wasn't too stellar. They went with a totally different sound and timber to it that probably needs in-game experiencing.

But anyways, your sound works find on your laptop? This is weird. Can you try plugging in headphones and trying it again?

so you are streaming music that you physically have on your xbox to your windows 8 laptop, via some music app. You can stream and sync between the devices, its just that you get no sound on your laptop when the music is playing.

is this correct?, also please state the exact music app, is it xbox smartglass app or just the regular music app that is orange?

Hi there people. I'm getting the same error message. I am trying to listen to music on my computer in the music app, with smart dj. So it's online music... I am connected to the internet when this error message comes up.
One search recommended checking the country and region settings whick I done.
Still no luck..

I'm wondering if its because windows has been activated wrong?

I was trying this out on a separate PC running the RTM trial, and it's a Dell desktop so they don't play sound until it detects a sound device. I believe I came across the exact error code, I'm not sure though, but I'll check it to be sure.

I did get a driver error once but it disappeared after I installed the corresponding realtek drivers. I haven't found many signs of the same error on the net, people just refer to it as "can't play songs" which pretty much describes the problem.

Hi, did you mean your sound driver wasn't installed ? If so i checked my devices manager and my sound driver looks to be installed. Also i play videos off my computer through my t.v so yes my sound drivers are working.

Do you think it might be because i dont have a xbox music pass?
In saying that though, i can play some 30 second music preview songs...

I don't know...

if you're logging into a microsoft account (you can tie any email to a microsoft account whether it's gmail or hotmail or yahoo or whatever), you shouldn't be getting 30 second previews. the only time I ever got that was when there was a problem verifying the account.
