Adding programs to 'Open With' sub-menu?

Can someone please tell me how to add items to the right-click context menu, 'Open With' sub-menu. For instance, I would like to add Photoshop and Gimp when I right-click on and image file.

It was a very simple operation with 7 but it's got me stumped in 8

It works the same as in 7. You right click on the image and choose "Open With". Make sure the image is selected first, otherwise it won't recognize the file type. If Photoshop is not listed (and it's installed) then click the "More Options" link at the end of the list, and if it's not listed there then Photoshop is not a registered application and you might want to do a repair install.

That's exactly what I've been doing. It opens the program for that one time only, doesn't add it to the menu though?

Gimp and PhotoScape may not register themselves for the mime types.

You can always click the "Look for another app on this PC" link and then search for the gimp exe.

They both appear in the list of suggested apps. I've also tried by adding the ,exe's...no joy. Strangely, if I open the image with picture viewer and then right-click they are in the open with sub-menu there.
