Hello everybody! I am a senior citizen who enjoys my computer very much. I'm looking forward to reading all the posts on this forum!:)

I have installed Windows 8 on my laptop and until today all was as expected. I then downloaded windows mail and moviemaker. Afterwards when I select any app tile it goes full full screen for a few seconds and then just returns to the start screen. This happens no matter which tile I choose. Apart from that I can operate the PC by avoiding the tile screen. Any advice most welcome.

my sure you are running a screen resolution that can support apps, make sure your account control acess is set to medium and that if you have a 3rd party anti-virus program, its not screwing with your apps.

No third party anti virus! I'm afraid that " account control access" means nothing to me.:confused:

bring up charms menu on right, click search, click settings, type uac into search box, click uac control on left side of screen, make sure it is set to the 2nd mark from the top.

I did a system restore to a point before I had installed Libre Office and now all is well. It seems that Windows 8 is not happy with Libre Office!

Thanks to all who offered assistance!
