    Win7-8 Dual Boot on a Commodore 64

    Kudos to EIGHTFORUMS!

Went to Dell Tech Support Chat, as my laptop is due for DELLivery tommorrow.
I just KNEW I was going to be denied my request for OEM/System Builder/OS ONLY installation media.
I was WRONG. It is being mailed by Fed-Ex next day. WOW

But the reason for this post is pasted below. They didn't send me to Dell Support, nor Microsoft Support
but rather to THIS site. Isn't that sumpin' :)

04/14/2013 02:48:22PM Agent (Anon): "Since you are a valuable customer of Dell and this is a new system, as a one time exception, I will go ahead and send you the original operating system's disc free of cost."

04/14/2013 02:49:57PM Agent (Anon): "Operating system reinstallation will only reinstall the operating system and all the original data, drivers and software will be removed and needs to be reinstalled."

    04/14/2013 02:50:10PM Agent (Anon):""

04/14/2013 02:50:19PM Agent (Anon): "The above link has the steps for the reinstallation."

I'm honored that Dell thinks highly enough of our support to recommend us to their customers.

Thank you Dell. We'll do our best to help as always.

    Dell ROX -EightForum ROX :)

Step one, plug in and power up USB 3.0 External HD
Step two, boot from Linux DVD.
    Step three, image/.iso factory drive.
Step four, see the wonder of 500GB Unallocated Space.
Step five, do whatever the heck "I" want with "MY" computer.

Yea, freedumb from crapware among other things.

    Uninstall RARELY ever works.
Why are there still 30 or more Registry entries for McAfee???
Ditto for all the other shipped/installed apps ..sigh.

But yea, kudos to EIGHT FORUMS and Super Kudos to DELL INC.
for 'getting' it and then immediately getting it right.

    One happy camper here :)

ps..Hope I don't have to come here with my tail between my legs whimpering help
    about...forgot about EFUI...etc etc...but if I do have to come back red-faced,
at least I'll know I came to the right place...ha ha

Yes, Dell sends a genuine OEM Windows 8 installation disk. With most of their business systems (which a consumer can buy), you can select the media when you customize it. If you are on a system (like home line), that doesn't offer the customize option, simply call Dell on the phone. The media will usually cost you $2-$3, but for us it's worth it.

The thing with Dell's website, is what you see on the website is not the full extent of what you can get. I often cannot find exactly what I want through the website by customizing, but if I contact my Dell sales rep and ask for a quote of what I want, I can get it.

Meh. At Apple we referred people to fan based Apple forums all the time as long as the information we were referring them to was accurate.

I like to give credit where credit is due, and I get a vast amount of help from people in here so naturally, like to thank in plenty. But I cannot give kudos to a person I last gave kudos to, but a long time ago. It says that I must spread it around - fairy snuff - but not really fair on those who...

Hey everybody, Where's the app? I saw that there is an app for EightForums in the Appstore and Google Play... But where's the Windows Phone app? It's pretty strange in my opinion, because the website is all about Windows 8 and Microsoft... You get the point. Are there any interested people or...

Just installed the Windows 8 international x64 driver on an older asus core duo notebook with Gforce 9M series dedicated graphics. The previous 'loaner' driver from win7 showed a paltry 2.1 on Windows 8 WEI, Desktop/Aero performance. Removed that old pile and installed new, reran the assessment...
