If I am supposed to type "admin" at the command prompt - I can tell you that it doesn't work. This machine doesn't believe that I have administrator privileges ... and I don't know how to make it understand that I am the ONLY user ... therefore I am the administrator.

I can't run "sfc /scannow" because the system seems to think I'm not the "administrator" ... And "chkdsk /f" doesn't run either. I read something about "SFC" being a Windows 7 answer ... I'm running Windows 8.1 What else can I do? Should I start Windows in the "SAFE MODE"?

When I return to my computer after it has been asleep for a while I cannot get it to restart. I have to turn the power off and then back on in order to reboot the computer.
