Advanced System Properties - Add to "This PC" Context Menu

How to add ASP to Desktop or Quick Launch? Hi Shawn Useful thread, I would like to add ASP to my QuickLaunch toolbar, allowing launching with 2 clicks. Actually I need it there to be able to set a restore point, so I would actually prefer to add "Create a Restore Point" directly to QuickLaunch...

Libraries - Add or Remove from This PC in Windows 8.1

Hi Brink, I am sure we have discussed this before, maybe on another thread. Windows has probably through an update, put libraries back in my File Explorer. I have tried a few or the more likely of your .reg files, but don't seem to be able to kill them this time, which i would really like to do...

This PC - Add or Remove "Folders" in Windows 8.1

Hi Brink, me again. I was surprised that MS in its wisdom (presumably) would reinstate all of the folders I had gone to so much trouble to delete (before I found your excellent .reg solution that is). Someone should tell MS not to nanny us and give us folders we don't want. Thanks again for a...

"New App Installed" Notification - Disable in Windows 8

Good One! Thanks Brink On my system “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer” did not exist. However, I downloaded and ran your .reg file, and it kindly added Explorer to Windows. Hopefully the message will now be permanently dead.

This PC - Add or Remove "Folders" in Windows 8.1

These are the keys in my machine: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\ They are not the same as yours. NameSpace {1CF1260C-4DD0-4ebb-811F-33C572649FDE} {374DE290-123F-4565-9164-39C4925E46713}...

This PC - Add or Remove "Folders" in Windows 8.1

Of course I accepted prompts! Looking at your .reg files, it is difficult to see what they do. I guess the minus sign is enough to tell it to remove the keys. Curious. Path is correct. I have now deleted the first set of keys. However, I note that the key for the Wow6432Node key is not...

This PC - Add or Remove "Folders" in Windows 8.1

The tutorial says "This PC - Add or Remove "Folders" in Windows 8.1 How Add or Remove Default "Folders" from This PC in Windows 8.1". This OK, but it needs to also explicitly say that it DOES NOT remove them also from Users. I did an experiement and deleted a desktop item in My PC...

This PC - Add or Remove "Folders" in Windows 8.1

Already done. Worked fine in regedit/right click/delete only in -HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\etc. Did not need to delete the Wow6432Node entries. Just a couple of suggestions: (i) maybe you could emphasize the fact that it only...

This PC - Add or Remove "Folders" in Windows 8.1

Thanks Shawn. I much appreciate prompt reply. I just want to remove them from File Explorer, where they take up valuable space and are no use to me as such. However, it is essential that they stay in my user's folder as unfortunately some programs dump stuff in them that they and I need. eg...

This PC - Add or Remove "Folders" in Windows 8.1

Hi Shawn. Looks like a great approach. However my Asus 400CA running 64 bit 8.1 did not remove Desktop and Documents. I had previously removed music pictures videos etc by deleting the keys the registry (NameSpace). Unfortunately I need to preserve Desktop and Documents as there is stuff in them...

Permanently remove Touch Keyboard toolbar from taskbar?

Nice idea Tiffany - expect it would work. But we need our Desktop and QuickLaunch toolbars, so won't work for us. Pity. But there could be something lurking in the registry that just kills the Touch Keyboard toolbar. Insane that we cant get rid of the stupid thing!
