Yes I did a full CHKDSK on reboot. It is .avi, .mkv, .mp4 files not just avi. I will have another go at it when I get home from work tonight, if it dosent work I will have to replace the disk I guess. But on Windows 8 it is fine, just not 8.1.

Sorry I should have said that I have run CHKDSK. The file has not been moved, if I do move it however to another disk it becomes usable again. I am thinking it is a disk problem although I have checked all permissions it still asks me for admin rights when using drag and drop to this disk.
