My QOSMIO i7 doesn't have any 8 or 8.1 drivers available. Touchpad issues, cooling fan issues, etc. All seems too hard for very little upside.

I'll wait until I get a touch screen I think. :-)

Thanks alphanumeric but I pulled the pin on win8.1 & ave gone back to 7. 8.1 was just too big a change in the way I use my laptop. Any operating system that needs a google search to find out how to turn off my computer is not worth the effort.

The ones on the phone can be viewed on the phone but not via file explorer in windows when the phone is plugged in. Other files in the same directory are there. The ones on the hard drive have always been there. The folder structure is there but no mp4 files.

Win8.1 I can't see mp4 files with file explorer or itunes. They are there. This is on a hard drive &/or on a sd card on a phone. All other files seem ok

Tried that Shawn. Eventually installed old win7 drivers & it's now recognised as touchpad but no settings available.

Qosmio X505-Q887 Tried installing latest synaptics drivers but got a failed to install error. Win8 drivers not listed on toshiba site. Tried via Toshiba service centre but couldn't download this to install. Got message "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com" Pad works...

What do you mean? Create a bootable win8.1 USB stick after installation or win7 before or both?
