The exact same things happen when I follow your instructions. i stick the usb in first, then power it on, then spam ESC before windows gets loaded and select boot options and it still just goes to the black screen with the cursor

Yeah I think im going to go out and get one today and see if that works. I have an external Mac disc drive ... the "Superdrive" -_- but its for my laptop so I feel as if it would not work on windows

No I haven't. This computer doesn't even have a disc drive so I would have to go out and buy an external disc drive. Thats not a problem. See, when I boot it up and press "ESC" and then select boot options it wont even load, the booting options. But I'll probly just go out and get an external...

Thats not an issue, I can download windows 8 and just burn it to a disc. But i cant even get into the booting options.

Okay so I was able to hold ESC when booting and it brings up a few options, like whether i want to go into boot options etc. But whatever option I select, it just goes to a black screen with a cursor LOLZ I can record a video and upload it to youtube if you guys would like to see yourselves...

Would I be able to just wipe the drive with D-Ban? And then do a fresh install?

Okay i don't have a windows 8 install disc. This is my sisters laptop so I am just trying to fix it. I do have a windows 7 install disc however. Would I be able to use that. I like windows 7 better anyways.

Okay well no, I cannot get into bios settings by pressing delete during startup. It is my sisters laptop and knowing her she probly threw out the back up discs that HP sent with it. And HPgeek I am not entirely sure how to do that.

Hey guys, so heres my problem. I have my laptop running windows 8, and whenever i boot it up it just shows the "HP" logo and then the spinning dots on the bottom, then it just goes to a black screen with a cursor on it. Now I cant do anything with this, seeing as it is windows 8 I cant boot it...
