Started with a UK101 in the early 80's, had to build it myself from a bag of bits with a soldering iron. Ran some version of Microsoft basic and I still have it somewhere in storage. Took me a few weeks to get used to 8 but I still find myself using the desktop most of the time.

I am happy with 8 for a few reasons, bit locker, file history and the feature of being able to mount iso files in explorer without using 3rd party programs. Not bothered about metro or anything like that as I just use the desktop all the time. Well worth the money for those features alone.

I am having to use the outlook.com website pinned to the taskbar and minimized so i get notifications when new mail arrives, not a perfect way but its the only solution i have found so far.

If I am not mistaken when you buy the retail you get 64 and 32 bit DVDs in the box.

Depends what files you actually want to back up. Personally i use a combination of Google Drive and Skydrive, both have free accounts but i pay for extra storage on both. There are loads more but it depends on what your needs are.

I used Easus Todo Backup Free to clone my 250 hard disk to the new ssd in my laptop. Worked a treat.

Its definitely set up as a USA keyboard as I don't have the £ sign in the right place as well and the on screen keyboard confirms this. Its not a big deal but I need to get it sorted.
