Automatic Maintenance delayed, notification won't go away

I wouldn't count on it staying that way, as I did a System Restore and the problem went away for a while, but now it's back. Anyway, I dislike 8.1 even more than 8, and I'd sooner switch to Windows 7 than update to 8.1.

Automatic Maintenance delayed, notification won't go away

Yeah I could, but this is just masking the problem. Still stumped at this point.

Automatic Maintenance delayed, notification won't go away

Neither of these did anything for me. :(

Automatic Maintenance delayed, notification won't go away

Well, this is pretty annoying. Since last night, I've had this Automatic Maintenance notification randomly pop up in Action Center which simply refuses to go away: I've already run the maintenance multiple times, and it seems to complete just fine, but the notification never goes away and it...

    Frequent Explorer.exe crash

Exactly. StartIsBack is not crapware and I paid for it to vastly improve my Windows 8 UI and UX. I don't need no Windows 8 defenders/apologists jumping the gun here and telling me something that's not relevant to my problem. I have already contacted the developer of StartIsBack to find out if...

    Frequent Explorer.exe crash

Just edited the OP; I was exaggerating. I have used it and I hate it, just like the rest of Modern UI. /offtopic

    Frequent Explorer.exe crash

Whoa whoa whoa. Crapware? :sarc: If you're referring to StartIsBack, if I'm gonna get rid of that I might as well get rid of Windows 8 while I'm at it. No codec pack here. Watch the attitude man.

    Frequent Explorer.exe crash

Explorer.exe crashes on me a few times a week after startup when I try to search for something in the Start Menu. This is the error report: I am using StartIsBack on Windows 8 Pro x64 and this happens when I am using its Start Menu search. I never use Windows 8's awful native search so I'm...

    Random BSOD during file transfer.

Just an update, Intel recently released a new version of RST and I updated. Have been BSOD-free for about a week. Hopefully this streak continues but I am optimistic so far. Thanks again for the help John!

    Random BSOD during file transfer.

Hi John. Thanks for the reply! I have installed all Important Windows Updates, but not the Recommended ones, so I will do that. SanDisk has not released any firmware updates for the SSD I'm using, and I'm using a storage controller driver (Intel RST) from this year. I purposely disabled the...

    Random BSOD during file transfer.

I'm currently in the midst of doing a reformat on my Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 laptop and was copying over my library of Steam games from an external hard drive. It was taking a while so I closed the lid and just let it do its thing while I left and did something else. After I assumed it had finished...

Crash and video hardware error when playing games

Yeah I saw that. A million problems but no official statement or fixes from Lenovo.

Crash and video hardware error when playing games

I wish I could do that but 310.90 is missing SLI profiles for a lot of recent games such as BioShock Infinite. When Nvidia releases a new driver I will definitely update and see if that does anything. Still, a "video hardware error" is not encouraging; the last time I saw this was on a dying...

Crash and video hardware error when playing games

I have a very serious issue with my brand new Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 GT 650M SLI system (specs at the bottom) . I can't play games at all because my system will lock up as soon as I enter the game, requiring a hard reset. My Windows Action Center is filled with Video Hardware Error reports. Is this...

Missing MSR partition after clean install.

Lo and behold, it shows up now. This is why I love EightForums (and SevenForums) so much. :D So many helpful experts like you guys on here.

Missing MSR partition after clean install.

Yeah it did. That's what the screen looked like when I went throgh that step and I installed Windows on Drive 0 Partition 4.

Missing MSR partition after clean install.

Yes GPT for sure. The * is there when I use list disk in diskpart. Also, checking the properties of the drive in Windows Disk Management says that it is GPT. I made certain I converted it to GPT before going through with the Windows 8 installation process. The reason I was confused and worried...

Missing MSR partition after clean install.

So you're saying there's nothing wrong with my Windows installation then? Whew, what a relief! I was worried that I would have to reinstall. I guess if an important system partition like that was missing in the first place, I would've already run into a lot of issues, but so far my experience...
