further to your last post i've followed your instructions re disk management and found a section in disc 0 basic that says 20.00gb healthy ( recovery partition). can you please tell me how to access this partition to reinstall the o/s ?

ok thanks again unfortunately i have a problem right there. the laptop came pre-installed with windows 8 and there is no sticker with the product key on. i suspect it was installed by the manufacturer and is part of their licence. i cannot ask the manufacturer for this information because they...

it seems to have worked except my email ad and name is still on the log in screen. any suggestions if its possible to remove this as well?

hi brink thats the way you could do it in windows 7. i tried the method earlier but couldn't get into the options screen, i guess i typed it wrong in the run box, will try again. thanks

hi i just cannot get on with windows 8 and want to sell my laptop. is it possible to return the pc to factory setting so all of my personal information is removed from the pc. its a samsung laptop and didn't come with any backup media. many thanks

hi question as in title. it was possible in windows 7 can it be done in windows 8. i do not want this safeguard as i am the only user. many thanks
