    If I installed windows 8 from the microsoft store would my key remain or would I have to do other things to get it activated? All i really need I think is just to get to that repair menu but I'm not sure if its even possible at this point.

    Same black screen happens after the Lenovo brand displays. Nothing has changed.

    I will try that. There was McAfee that came with it which i quickly uninstalled. It required a reboot though and the blue screen did not appear until I restarted for the windows update.

    Alright I'm on knoppix and I can view my C Drive. What files do you need and how do I get to them? As far as i see, there are no minidump files or folders in the C:/windows.

    I do have usb drive, just not a backup one. Sorry for the weird wording. Ill put knoppix on my usb and do what you said. Are there any special programs I should use to install knoppix onto my usb? Also, I don't know how to boot my laptop from usb.
