All right, so does that mean I can install Win 8 in my laptop which has only one partition i.e. C drive with all my 527 Gb (out of 581) data in it and will not lose them all?

Isn't it possible to do partition first? like I'll make an E: drive with 500 GB with all my files(movies, musics)and there will be C: drive with 80 GB and all system files only and then I'll install Win 8 in C:, that way it'll delete Win 7 system files and install Win 8 there.
