    Limited Network with New Router

First of all, AGFDEJEIORJKLSSDJKLAJIOWERJOIJIOGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Alright, now that's out of my system. Basically, when I stick in a new router, it gives me limited connectivity and my old router works fine. I've RMA'd the new router twice now, once for overheating, once...

Unreliable Internet on Ethernet on SELECT Computers

Title says it all. When I troubleshoot, it says Default Gateway not Available. I'm getting the 169.x.x.x IP address... I have 2 computers operating, one that isn't. Wireless works perfectly. One is Windows Server 2012, does not work. One is Windows 8, does not work. And another Windows 8 which...

    DirectX Errors

I'm getting DirectX errors, and I'm wondering if they're related to the graphics card I just got. I have a Gigabyte GTX 660Ti, non-reference. I did not get these when I was using my GTS 250 on Win7. Also, my graphics card seems to run less stable than my last one. Should I RMA it? The games I...

    I've come to a realization . . . .

I'm getting bootups from 45 seconds to 70 seconds on a spinning disk, but I have about 500GB out of 2TB of data. I have a 2TB Caviar Green too, so it isn't optimized for speed at all. On W7, I was getting ~80-120 second startups, so it cut it almost in half.

    I've come to a realization . . . .

I'll tell you right now, here's what went into the thought process of Windows 8 vs Windows 7. Windows 8: Gravitation towards Metro apps, not compatible with 7. FAST boot ups, save ~$100+, no need for a SSD. Gestures (Yes, they are a benefit, since you can fall back on Desktop mode anyways)...

Can you change Chinese Win 8 PRC to English?

Have you looked at language registry edits? Last I heard, they were pretty effective. Otherwise, I can't help you much, sorry. Hope I helped anyhow :D.

    I've come to a realization . . . .

The point is kind of here: Would you rather have a car with different version of pedals (such as a hand accelerator or something like that)... Or standard pedals and spend an extra grand covering for software development in electric cars for pedals? Just because we expect and want something...

Windows 7 vs Windows 8 Real Time Test with Adobe Photoshop

I did some research, and it seems as though both SSDs have comparable performance to one another. You should wait until they release a version that officially is built for Windows 8 before making performance comparisons. There shouldn't be a large performance gap once that happens. It's too...

    I've come to a realization . . . .

Then I guess you won't like automatically driven cars. Standards are the devil. They make you "expect" something. It just makes your mind dull. If everything was different, user manuals would make a difference. People would actually probably learn to use google properly. And most of all, they...

Show of hands, who hasn't and isn't buying the $40 upgrade

Win8 is great if it works flawlessly. I'm always open to new things. I'm always on the cutting edge. A yes for me :).

    Enough Is Enough!

If you're saying Windows 8 is rubbish. Please tell me more. My computer was preinstalled with Windows Vista. I went from 4 years of Vista to 4 years of Seven. Windows 8's problems feel like a break from the too-damn-easy-no-problems Windows 7. It takes me back to what using a PC should feel like. A...

Anyone else here care about cable management?

Oh yeah, and I have tried many cases... If you like midrange quiet cases, I have not found a better case than the Fractal Design R4.

Anyone else here care about cable management?

Gigabytes and MSI's are great for the value as well. As long as you aren't buying something like Biostar... I have also heard good things about ASRock.

Windows 7 vs Windows 8 Real Time Test with Adobe Photoshop

SSDs can matter a lot. Are these SSDs both recent ones? Or are they far apart? SSDs generations apart can have a huge difference. And yes, they tuned Windows 8 to "feel" faster than Windows 7, that may have lash backs in other applications.

    Disk usage 100% - Problem Windows 8

I am pretty sure that they slimmed down Norton lately. It's detection rate still floats right above MSE. Honestly, BitDefender and ESET are the preferable ones, unless you prefer something that doesn't compromise security for speed, Kaspersky. Try updating all your drivers. Go to your...

    Disk usage 100% - Problem Windows 8

Use your task manager to find the culprit. In the Processes tab, which "task" is high on disk usage? This is generally a driver problem, I had an outdated network driver once that caused this.

    Networking Problems (Unidentified Network)

Installed wireless adapter in my computer, works perfectly now. No idea why. Still need to fix my wired internet. At least I can do whatever now.

    Networking Problems (Unidentified Network)

Oh, and does using a CAT5 line with a gigabit connection cause intermittency? My dad was cheap and bought a HUUUUGE bulk roll of cable way back and has been using it ever since. Should I buy a CAT6 line and try it?

    Networking Problems (Unidentified Network)

I just did plug and play I the routers. I don't see any options directly pertaining to wired connections, so could you clarify? And the modem has no setup, it's done by Comcast. I've already called them twice and every time they've said that the modem is working perfectly fine.

Forgot to mention that the laptop worked wirelessly but not wired.
