Does this happen with Windows 8 on all brands/models, or just G580 lenovos? ha

I made a Windows 8 repair drive, USB, and it booted up fine. But then it just gives me the same set of tools you get with the advanced restart menu. Choosing UEFI change, even though now booted from USB, still just restarted and took me into windows, didn't get me into BIOS.

I wasn't expecting it to deny me a cd boot, BUT, It looks as though its totally ignoring me with bootable cds or dvds too, in the same manor that it does when I'm trying to access the BIOS, boot menu, or the "change uefi restart". It did spin up during post though, at least. I'd like to try...

Yeah, it seems that way. Brings me back to my original question, does anything unexpected or bad happen when you delete the win8 EFI partition? or does it just rebuild on the next boot? And would this possibly yield me one time access to my BIOS again?

When I use Shift-restart I CAN reboot into the advanced startup options. The menu with safe mode, disable early malware etc. But that's it. When I'm doing the same procedure as the guy in the Toshiba video, it will just go to a normal boot up instead of putting me in the BIOS when I choose to...

Thanks, but unfortunately that option, along with choosing "BIOS Setup" off my "lenovo" button start menu doesn't work either, or any bootup hotkeys. All of these things lead to a normal startup every time. The only thing I can get to, is the startup options screen to enable safe mode etc...
