I'm no specialist about BSOD or crashes but that used to happen to me. Always on the first boot after a shutdown. Restarting the computer wouldn't make it crash, just after shutdowns. I figured out that I had program, that I really need and I couldn't uninstall. that was messing up with windows...

Yup, just checked its UEFI. Well the software I am using can run under xp 64-bit so its fine, and yes I'll make a partition in my HDD to install xp. So, according to your info, I can install xp 64bit in a different partition without any problems? Just like a normal install? Or do I have to do...

Thanks, I checked the linked and the situation is a bit different because I got it installed in a Gpt HDD, although I checked the other link inside that one (about dual booting 7 and xp) and I looks like it could work. The only thing that concerns me is that Gpt thing. But I'll give it a try.

I really don't know the difference but by default windows 8 should run under EUFI, so I say its EUFI. It starts up, shows BIOS screen and then a Asus screen with the doted circle (loading)

Well I just did a clean install a few hours ago. And it doesn't crash, just starts crashing after I install a program that I really need. Although after disabling Fast Startup its good.

The problem was the new feature of Windows 8 called "Fast Startup" - http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6320-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-8-a.html Had to disable it and no more crashes at boot. I guess this could be why many people get crashes at boot.
