It's back! Something in the printer ROM keeps sticking this thing on my computer without my permission. Nice job HP. It won't install, hangs halfway through, and it can't eject or permanently kill it. Argh. I just have CD Drive (F: ) HP Smart Install just sitting in my Computer.

Hmm, I went into Computer Management and saw that it was being treated as a USB drive. I disabled and uninstalled it from there and it went away. I don't have the best feeling about doing it that way, but, it seems to be gone in both Computer Management and in Computer.

The printer freaking installed this automatically to "help me out" I suppose. I turn the printer on, it sticks this virtual CD in my system without even asking me, and now I can't kill it. HP Smart Install it's called. Argh. The computer is a homebuild, so, it's pretty clean otherwise.

I have an HP printer that has installed a virtual CD with the driver. The software won't install, but the printer works fine regardless, problem is, I can't eject the virtual CD no matter what I do. Any way to force this thing to eject?

Yeah, it's causing me some mayhem. I don't like it, nor understand why it's doing it that way. I wish it would just bounce to the desktop and run Chrome from there. It also opens the Metro/Modern version from the email app as well.

When you are in Computer Management > Disk Management on the upper right under More Actions - choose Rescan Disks. Once it worked for me right away, another time it saw the drive after I did a rescan and then a reboot.
