Ditto on all suggestions thus far. I upgraded my rig from 1 to 2 GBs for around $40 USG. What a tremendous difference it made
I've got 4GB now and I think I might max mine out next month to 8GB. I wish I could put more in but my mother board is only capable of using 8MB. I found this...
Amazon.com: Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5C 4GB XMS2 PC2-6400 800Mhz 240-Pin Dual Channel DDR2 Desktop Memory: Electronics
I can get two of those and I get free 2nd day UPS shipping for free from Amazon so it's a deal in my book. More RAM good MAX Best!!
Hi there
Unless you are running a LOT of concurrent applications or Virtual Machines going from 4 GB RAM to 8GB RAM won't give you anything like the performance increase you expect.
What WILL making an amazing difference is to fit an SSD as your boot device --- not sure what your budget is but an 80 GB SSD can be had very cheaply now --is more than sufficient for the OS partition. Put your data etc on to the spinners.
(Even the 120 GB drives are getting affordably cheap now). I just wish I had installed these LONG BEFORE I DID).
I don't know of ONE single person who has ever regretted fitting an SSD. -- Well I'm sure there's always ONE - but you won't find many who regret it.
Cheers
