    Paging file removed

My hard drive has been running continuously and I removed the page file which seems to have solved the problem and allows me to use the computer again but there is the problem with the running out of memory popup. Is there any way to solve this problem besides installing another 4gb of ram?

The swap file is used as a replacement for RAM so your between a rock and hard place you need more RAM

I kind of put things in the middle and used a 4gb thumb drive and Readyboost; so far it seems to be working.

Not working. I found out that I can format the thumb drive for NTFS and use the entire 16gb drive for ReadyBoost but still got the memory error. I re-enabled the paging file for system management and stopped the error. I manually lowered the size of the paging file to 21/16mb for speed and the error came back. This all leads me to believe that ReadyBoost is not working since the paging file size was never above 4gb before enabling ReadyBoost.

I also read that the computer would only handle the max memory that it was designed for and that the extra size of the thumb drive would just cause problem so I have now lowered the size of the ReadyBoost to 4gb - will get back later with the results.

EDIT: Well that didn't work either, still get error. Apparently ReadyBoost is not working as advertised and yes I have SuperFetch service set to Automatic and Running. I guess the hard drive is going to keep locking up my computer until M$ fixes the problem.

Are you speaking of replacing the HD with SSD?

I looked at the class 10 cards before and I am going to get one for trial, but I don't want to tie up the slot because of my camera. I have a 1gb, but that is not large enough for a good test.

paging while still 24GB available RAM
Lately I've been having these annoying popups telling me I'm running out of memory, but I really don't understand it. I have 32GB of RAM and I'm currently using a little less than 8GB of it. Paging File is massive
Hi All Just noticed that on Windows 8.1 my Paging file is set to 16GB, I have this set to system managed on a separate drive. PC has 16GB of RAM and an SSD for the OS. Seems to be quite large and recall when previously set to system manage the paging file was only about 2GB. Cheers Ged

"System Managed" Paging File Seems Low
My son's Windows 8 laptop has 6 GB of RAM. His paging file resides entirely on the C: drive and is the "System managed size". His paging file is set to 960MB. Doesn't that seem very low? It's even less than the recommended 4,067MB.
