Is there a fast way to delete the grayed out Generic Volume Shadow Copy drivers? I have a couple of thousand of them which I believe is the cause of Devices and Printers taking 2 to 3 minutes to load. I've started uninstalling the grayed out ones manually, but that is going to take forever.

Be careful using Ghostbuster. There are some grayed out drivers that should not be removed. Also, any device not currently connected will appears as grayed out and you may not want to remove those.

What I did was right click on one of the Generic Volume Shadow Copy lines, clicked on Add Class (making it my only class). The good ones turned green, and the ghosts turned a darker sort of orange. Then I clicked on Remove Ghosts, and all the "ghosted" Generic Volume Shadow Copies went away.

I had hundreds of them as well. I deleted them through Windows disk cleanup. There is an option to delete all except the latest. Now they are gone from device manager.

I had tried Windows Disk Clean Up (I even checked Clean Up System Files), but it still left thousands of grayed out Generic Volume Shadow Copies. Ghostbuster did the trick for me. It now takes about a minute, instead of 3 minutes, to load Devices and Printers, but that's because I still have a ton of good Volume Shadow Copies. What I really wanted to get to is my printer queues, so I made I short cut to the printers and now I can get to them instantly.
