I tried to run DISM and starting off from scanning, but it returns me with this error message:

Code:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 6.3.9600.17031

Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031

[==========================100.0%==========================]

Error: 8

Not enough storage is available to process this command.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

I am not sure about the "storage" it is referring to. If it's RAM, I still have plenty of room.
What should I do..?

Hi KYHI

Properties as in the space..? (Sorry if I misunderstood the question) Currently it has 185GB free space.

So far I had only run CCleaner once but that was only on basic cleaning like browsing history, caches and stuff like that (did not involve registry). I have not performed disk cleanup directly. Should I do that..?

you should have enough memory and enough free HDD space, so not sure the cause of that error..

Pagefile maybe?? but I have 0 zero page file and still not seen that error, but I run 24GB ram and a 120GB SSD

although the error states
ERROR_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY8 (0x8)Not enough storage is available to process this command.

so as suggested reboot and try the dism command again

Hi SIW2.

I notice the problem during Windows Update as it gives off error code 80070008. This error code seems to lead to insufficient memory issue.

winupdate.jpg

And when I try to scan using DISM, it returns me with that error message that leads to the same issue.

I also tried Windows Update Diagnostic tool. It addressed me the problems and said they were "fixed", but the problem persists.

Try following
- Close all programs, including ones that run in the background, such as firewalls, antispyware software, web accelerators, Internet security or antivirus programs, or proxy servers, and then run Windows update again.

If it doesn't work, try windows update with clean boot

Hi axe0.

I have tried your suggestions, both on closing all programs and clean boot... but the problem is still the same. :(

Hi David

After running Windows Memory Diagnostic, it says that there was no error detected.

No program interfering with windows update and memory is fine.

Try following in admin command prompt
Code:
[B]Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&sfc/scannow&Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc/scannow&pause[/B]
It takes quite a while at the 4th step to finish, let it run, reboot and try sfc/scannow.

Please post the results.

Below is the result I got. It didn't seem to run the first command, I think..? I wonder where it went wrong... and sfc /scannow doesn't seem to be able to perform. Uh-oh. I also tried it on Safe Mode. The same result.

Code:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&sfc/scannow&Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc/scannow&pause

I remember I could only run SFC at Command Prompt through Advanced Startup. If it is during the normal startup or Safe Mode, SFC can't seem to perform. Should I try there..? I notice The directory/drive there started from X: instead of C: what is the difference? (I am sorry for asking dumb questions, I am not very knowledgeable in this).

according to the log you posted there is no indication of X prompt

Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse. The X prompt is only when running Command Prompt through Advanced Startup. I was just wondering what differences do they have, because I could run SFC there.

The log I uploaded is from the command I run on normal startup and Safe Mode. I can't run SFC on either normal startup and Safe Mode, as you can see the error message: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation".

This insufficient memory is starting to hold back my computer's performance. For example, several USB devices are unable to install...
devmgr-err-memory.jpg
bunch of registry are unable to load...
evnt-vwr.jpg
unable to perform DISM, unable to perform Windows Update due to this problem.

I am thinking to refresh/reinstall my OS... or probably upgrade right away to Windows 10. Is this a good choice for my last resort since no one else seem to be replying my posts anymore..? :(

Thank you very much for your reply, axe0.
Memory Diagnostic did not detect any problems.
memdiag-report.jpg

By the way, I noticed this at Event Viewer, saying "Application popup: Windows - Low On Registry Space : The system has reached the maximum size allowed for the system part of the registry. Additional storage requests will be ignored. "
Is this the main cause?

You can try > https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
to see if that helps - just leave at default settings and "RUN CLEANER"
then select "Registry" scan for issues, "Fix issues"
