Sudden computer freeze

Hi everybody,

It's been a week my computer has started to completely freeze for 30/60 seconds and then it works perfectly until the next freeze which happens randomly. I checked the log, but I found nothing. I checked the RAM and I have at least the 60% of the RAM free or used as Cache.

I ran sfc /VERIFYONLY and I found out that there are some issues. Can they be the problem?

Thanks a lot for your help.

What exactly did SFC tell you, found corrupt files and could not fix them ? Did you run this also, then SFC again ?

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Using 40% RAM possible too many running programs, check startup list and try to eliminate some startup.

Caused by software related issues, also be caused by drivers (video card) or conflicting or outdated drivers, make sure have most updated drivers for hardware installed.Check the device manager for any exclamation mark or X near any devices.
Make sure have all windows updates installed. Have you recently installed any new hardware ? Also be hardware failure.
Could be heat related, anything monitor temps. How did you test the RAM, as can be Memory issues.

Hi,

I tried to execute sfc /SCANNOW, but it asks me an internet access. I have only a tablet with a limited bandwidth, so I cannot execute it: I fear that it downloads something too heavy and I run out of bandwidth.

I'll have access to the internet by the first days of August. Do you advise me to wait until Windows X release? Oh... Is it compulsory to register now to get Windows X or I can register and download it in the middle of August?

Thanks a lot!!

SFC does not require internet access to run and repair files, believe to log it in CBS log it then can not do this offline.
DISM command does need internet access.

What exactly did you receive when running sfc ? Freeze ups and lock ups can be caused by many different reasons, hard to say if another OS would cure it unless due to corrupted system files, reasons to try SFC and DISM first.

According to Microsoft you can reserve your free upgrade to Windows 10 for up to 1 year after Windows 10 is released which would be until July 29th 2016.
