Does not work for me resource and performance monitor opens and displays an error message



I tried it in powershell and a command prompt as administrator 5 times in each same message

Thanks, found it but there is no data for me, it's blank.

I'm on Windows 10 build 10061 that I just upgraded to last night so not having anything may be normal initially. I'll check my Win 8.1 system in a bit.

Might not be enabled in Win 10, on another note I was just reading on another forum about a guy updating to 10066 I haven't tried win 10 for a long time so not sure if it's true or not

How do you get to it?

See my signature... Sometimes it takes multiple tries or even a reboot to activate it(probably why Microsoft has hidden it, where in Win7 it was in Action center). Also if it just doesn't work in Run or CMD one can also use this tutorial.

If you look at the pick I posted you will see in the Colum on the bottom left you will see five files with a green icon's I displayed them by clicking on the last diagnostic folder, I also think that they are there either from running the command

perfmon /report

as administrator in Powershell or Command prompt, like I said in my post I ran that command about 5 times in both powershell and command as admin so it was either on of the 2 that produced those results

The following options give greater control of Perfmon.exe directly from the command-line:

perfmon /rel Lets you review your computer’s reliability and problem history (the same result as right-clicking the Monitoring Tools node in Performance Monitor and selecting View System Reliability).

perfmon /report Collects performance data for 60 seconds and then generates and displays a system diagnostics report.

perfmon /res Opens the Resource Monitor (the same result as right-clicking the Monitoring Tools node in Performance Monitor and selecting Resource Monitor).

perfmon /sys Opens the Performance Monitor in stand-alone mode (the Sysmon.ocx ActiveX control).

An additional option, /comp, allows for comparison overlay between two open instances of Performance Monitor.

Note that these options are for use with Perfmon.exe but not for use with Perfmon.msc.

Some times it takes a few tries. Or try after you boot/reboot. Also you have to be using an administrator account(it will not work if you are using a standard account that some use for security reasons).
If my computer has been on a few hours it sometimes takes 3-5 tries.

What generates the reports?

Expand Data Collector Sets/System. Right click on either 'System Diagnostics' or 'System Performance' and then click 'Start'. Go down to Reports/System where you are now and see report by date.
