appearance of text has changed

The other day I suddenly noticed that the text style on my computer had changed to a very thin line. It was the same size and font style but it looks a bit lighter and like it was written with a very fine tip. I tried system restore but the text stayed the same. Headings are the same but when I type into facebook etc, the print is very thin and fine. Is there a way to get back the normal looking text?

Try Control Panel, Font, Font Settings. Click on Restore default font settings. See if that helps?

I tried that but when I came to restore default font settings, it changed to a pale grey and so did the OK so nothing happened. Does this mean that it is already on the default setting?
