I did a full backup in a hopes that if I had I virus it would allow me to do a restore rather then starting from scratch.. I am sure I was on windows 8.1 but it was a little old (9/14).. When I created the backup it was well hidden and I needed to search the web to figure out where it was hidden. When I needed the restore, all I could find was info stating the full bkup/restore were removed in 8.1.. So I manually saved (what I thought to be all my data) and cleared using the option to save the data and wipe everything else out... I forgot to save my SQL databases which are well hidden in the SQL program folders.. Obviously windows does not think to save this data either..
It is saved in my full backup.. I wasn't sure, but I thought when I did the backup I read I could do a full restore, or restore data.. But, I don't know if I can do either when at some point they removed this feature without warning me.
Is there a way?
Also any recommendations on what software out there that does do a reliable backup that I can then restore from?.. I am trying to backup to my own personal cloud.. It seems every time I try to do the full backup, I am very disappointed when I need it to restore from.. I looked and only saw software that save the data files, which itself is better then nothing.. I know windows offers their version, but it does not want to save anything not in the area windows is trying to micromanage us into saving to.. This would again exclude the SQL databases, but I personally save everything my own way to the c:\ drive so for me, their data backup refuses to save any of my data.
