Even though I like windows 8 very much... In fact so much that I will never look back... I do have an issue with the restart sequence.... shutdown seems to be working ok... However the Start-up leaves much to be desired.... My PC takes a very very loooooong time to start-up, so much that in many occasions I think its not going to .... then right about then I get the ugly looking beta fish (lol) I never experienced that with 7 nor Vista?????

Is there some type of tweak or configuration that will help me??????

I use Norton 360.... Are usaying for me to uninstall it altogether???? Then what? Just use Defender?

If I could tell you yes in more ways than one, it would be infinite. (Use the special tool in safe mode to do so for best results.)

Set Windows Firewall to Automatic too, then start it - while checking on Defender for the same. (services.msc)

You'll never regret it.

Ok. I've uninstalled norton. So far I see no change. In fact, norton restarted my system. And it has not restarted. I had to turn pc off manually and restarted it. And still nothing?????

That's not making too much sense. If you uninstalled it in safe mode with the special tool, it is now gone and it can not restart the system at all.

Did you also disable all the unnecessary stuff in Task Manager startup tab, as shown above?

Wow.... Check this out.... By the way. I used the norton removal tool.... I searched my hard drive, there is no sign of norton... I went to the user appdata and checked all places.... norton is gone....

I timed the start-up .... from a cold boot.... pressed the "on" button ... right away i get the windows setup screen.... from that point to the user sign on screen... it took a whole.... 14:28.9 minutes exact..... what in the world... I could re install windows 8 but was hoping not to have to go to the extreme....

Let's see what I can do for ya then.

1) Right click the download and then run as Admin: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2829-windows-8-log-collector.html#post33808

Zip the files or folder it makes as shown, then attach the zip here.

When done:

2) Set optimized defaults in the bios then save. (If you are using AHCI mode, set that manually after, then save again. If not, forget this part.)
