chkdsk /f/r

Win 8 inside Vmare in Win 7 laptop.

Is it necessary to do disk check in the guest os, or disk check done on host os also covers the guest os ?

Editing...................
I did a chkdsk /f in win 8.
I can't find a way to view the log.
When I typed event viewer in the search box, it did not accept it.

Hello t-4-2,

You would need to type in the full eventvwr.msc file name instead, then it should find Event Viewer. :)

Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log - Windows 7 Forums

Thank you.
In Vista and in Win 7, all I needed to do was to type "event viewer" in search box.
Similar example .... "ser" or "services" will suffice in Win 7, but in this Win 8 I have to enter services.msc.
I suppose Win 8 is not that accommodating.

You're most welcome.

Well, normally in Vista and Windows 7 you would have an Event Viewer shortcut in the Start Menu "Administrative Tools", so Windows would easily find that shortcut by only typing "even....". There's not a shortcut in Windows 8 by default, so you would have to type the full file name instead for Windows to find the file in the C:\Windows\System32 folder instead of a shortcut.

I cannot remember, I may have put it in the power menu manually, but, on the desktop, right clicking in the lh bottom corner (to get the "Power" menu" offers me the Event viewer. I can also access it in the usual way, through Msconfig. I have removed the search facility, but, fwiw, I think, assuming you are on the desktop, two clicks of the mouse are probably faster than typing out the fill eventvwr.msc (If you can remember it!- lol).
