Laptop slower in some points after Refresh

So I've just successfully refreshed my laptop yesterday, and I'm currently re-installing applications I need.
I'm running Windows 8.1, and have noticed some faster openings, such as the start menu and explorer. However it became somewhat slower with Chrome and a game called League of Legends. Unsure what I've missed because I didn't get a chance to see what was uninstalled during the process.

With League on the previous 8.1, it would close in 30s-120s after a game. With the refreshed 8.1, it just is slower and would take about 3 or 4 minutes to get the job done.

Can anyone recommend any tweaks or drivers I must get to address said issues?

I'm pretty sure you just need to wait for all tasks such as indexing service, shadow copy service, etc. to finish. They take away resources that should be used for your games. Wait a couple of reboots and it should perform like it was before you refresh your laptop

i've clean reinstalled windows many times.. and never experienced "slow" issues waiting for indexing or shadow copy bullcrap?? man you need to check into some other things.. program settings etc..

i just clean installed windows 7 to an old destop computer and it runs super fast.. amd processor on top of that..

and i'm now about to clean install windows 8.1 to a laptop and i already know it will be fast on first boot... so .? what is the league program thats slow?

The OPs specs are only a ULV i3 CPU and probably a 5400 rpm drive as well. My tablet has eMMC which has random read/write equal to a first gen SSD and yours is an i7 quad core with M.2 SATA 3 SSD which of course will be fast.

League is a MMO game and the OP is noting that load times are slow which indicate a busy HDD most of the time.

So basically until the system finishes its indexing, I will experience such stutters, correct?

Yes but then you can customize/limit the indexed items and the system restore storage to have less disk access. The are many tweaks out there to minimize disk usage.

turn off your stupid "indexing" through a command prompt with typing "services.msc" you need to google gaming tips on google.. and look for what all the crazy gamers are doing if you start getting into performance.. and for one, you don't need to index your drive if you are just playing games..

then use a program called Agent Ransack - it is a stand alone search program that is ridiculous.. but a little technical..

you can ofcourse choose other windows search programs if you like better.. (everything, i forget the name of other programs..)
