I recently built a new comp.

ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 motherboard
i7 2600 processor
8GB DDR3 1600 CL9 RAM

My system info shows 8 gigs of RAM but with only 3.48 usable. Why is half my RAM unusable?

It sounds to me like you are using Windows 8 32Bit instead of 64 bit. 32 bit can only support around 3.5 gigs of ram and 64 bit can support up to 192gb.

Grrr. You're right on the 32 bit. From the very beginning I'd meant to go with 64 & I've been putting off a re-install . . . .
