After suffering this problem, I have made some progress. By accessing Notepad via the Command Prompt in Recovery Options, I could access my hard-drive. Though now, about eighty percent of it has been wiped -- most files are gone, including all non-initial installation applications. Some personal files remained, that I managed to get off on a USB (all through the Open/Save function of Notepad).
Running CHKDSK, it froze once. Trying again, it repaired some bad areas.
When trying to Refresh my PC the message I get is:
There was a problem with refreshing your PC. No changes were made.
When trying to Restore my PC the message I get is:
This is very strange, as Reset had a different message not long ago -- regarding hard drive partitions.
What is more important to me is seeing if I can recover files and recover my Windows 8 product key. I have my installation disc, but I cannot find the code.
Any help would be most appreciated, comrades.
