Anyone using Windows 7 File Recovery in Windows 8?

    Hello,
Wondering if anyone is using Windows 7 File Recovery from the Control Panel in Windows 8. Would like to confer on it's strength and performance. Thanks for any response!

As you probably know by now, this is the oddly named version of Backup and Restore for Win 8. I have not used it to actually restore any files yet, but seems to work as expected on schedule. It backs up all personal files and data, and then creates a full disk image of the Win 8 partition. Be careful the first time you use it for backup, as it can replace/corrupt any Win 7 saves on the same drive. Luckily you are warned before it continues, so just please pay attention to any popup dialogs.

    Hello Glenn,

Yeah, this is the exact same as Backup and Restore in Windows 7. I would suspect that it will be renamed back to this, or changed to Windows 8 File Recovery in the next release though.

I think MS will get rid of it as soon as they can.

Probably just keeping it there for now so that images that were made in win7 can be restored.

Why on earth would they want to get rid of 'image backup'?

It was one of the improvements to Vista that I liked most, and is
    my backup method of choice.

The lack of it was always a failing in earlier versions, and removing
it would be a retrograde step.

    Hello John,
Thanks for the confirmation of what it does. I am running it on a Windows 8 only box, so I'm good. I hoped that a plethora of people would respond on how it saved the hours of reinstall and reconfiguring, oh well. Appreciate you assistance!

    Hello Brink,
It seems that it should be a powerful and useful ally. Previously explained, never got it to work on W7. But I guess I should do a restore just to prove it................
    Thanks
