DISM Question

I have had a problem with DISM in that it runs, but can't find the source files on my pc. Can anyone tell me if I can copy Windows SXS file from another computer and put my extenal disk as a source? Both pc's are running Windows 8.1 Update 1 and are x64. The only difference in the 2 pc's is mine is "Pro" and the other one is not. Would this work just to use as source files?

BTW Sfc Scannow runs fine and finds no integrity violations but DISM is having some kind of problem. I just would like to have it available in case of an emergency. Thanks.

Maybe selecting Windows Update as the source would help.

Every case of this DISM problem I've seen (quite a few) is only resolved by reinstalling the OS or if you upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1. Nothing else fixes it.

I'm afraid you are correct, Ztrucker - I've already upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8, and it's not worth reinstallation to me since I only have the Windows 8 CD. My original thought in this thread pertains to Windows SXS file and whether I might be able some way to fix this problem thru another pc's file. From what I've read, Windows SXS file is probably the reason DiSM can't find the source files. Just grasping for straws, I guess. Thanks for reply.
