Laptop not fully booting after shutting down?

My Windows 8 laptop (model is HP Pavilion g6-2210us) and for some reason it no longer boots. Here's pretty much in order how it went down:
-Windows 8 stops responding for no apparent reason
-I force a shut down and try to turn it back on, thinking that would fix it
-It starts loading Windows 8 up like normal, but it's taking an extremely long time to do it.
-After a while (about 20-30 minutes) it stops loading it and just goes black, but the screen is still on
-After this happening 4-5 times and nothing happening, I hit the power button 3 times to try Automatic Repair, which says "Preparing Automatic Repair" for 20-30 minutes, then goes black again

I don't know what is wrong, I think it may be hard drive failure but the drive gave no signs of dying, like slowing down, they don't usually just die like this. It's more likely to be just file corruption, but I have no Windows 8 disc, and I never knew I would need to make my own recovery disc. Anyway, I do know how to do the replacement of anything that can be replaced in most laptops, and I would probably just load up Linux or another free OS on the new drive if I need to get one.

Looks like a Factory Restore is in order with the recovery partition providing it is still intact other wise you will have to order the Recovery Disks from HP.

I followed that link and it was pretty helpful to me, I learned a few things I didn't know. For my particular situation (no recovery disc and it won't boot properly), it said mash F11 during startup, which I tried and nothing happened. Windows must have really got messed up Any other advice? I may need to send it back in but warranty was up like a year ago. Glad I built a desktop before this happened, but a laptop is still really useful.
