When I run the commands Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth, it tells me that the component store is repairable.
But when I do
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth i get error
0x800f0906 saying "the source files could not be downloaded. Use the "source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature."

Also when i run sfc.exe /scannow it says "windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."

Perhaps use gpedit.msc to change the dism download source to Windows Update:

Then:

It might help. :)

I ran into one of your post yesterday trying to figure out this problem but when i searched for gpedit.msc, nothing could be found. So now i had to download a group policy editor installer. Got it up and working but i don't see that setting under system.

just noticed i'm not in "local group policy editor" but just group policy, is that my problem?

Just type it into Run & press Enter or click OK:

Then:

It should be there.

Before i downloaded the group policy installer, if I type gpedit.msc in run, it just tells me there was no file to be found.

apparently its only for windows 8 pro

is there nothing else i can do?

I changed the dism download source to windows update using gpedit and still get this error saying "the source files could not be downloaded. Use the "source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature."

You could try:

Reverting to WSUS:

screenshot_86.jpg

or maybe running sfc /scannow a couple of times then dism.

That's what i have it set to.

I know.
I suggested you might try changing it back to WSUS.
Sorry if the picture caused confusion. :(

By switching it to disabled? or is there a file path

Just uncheck the box.

I learned stuff by playing around with stuff & Googling a lot.

Someone here may have better advice. :)

If it will help anyone, this is what is shown in the Help file for the DISM command. If you aren't getting to the source, possibly a firewall or anti-virus? See if the DISM log shows anything?

Use /Source with /RestoreHealth to specify the location of known good
versions of files that can be used for the repair. For more information on
specifying a source location, see
Configure a Windows Repair Source.
Use /LimitAccess to prevent DISM from contacting WU/WSUS.

Example:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM.exe /Image:c:\offline /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
/Source:c:\test\mount

What you have attached is not the DISM log for a /RestoreHealth process. This is one done after an 8 to 8.1 update where it is rebuilding the Recovery options.

The correct DISM log will start off like the entries below. It goes through this process every time you run DISM, but will say what the flags when running it are. And you may want to .zip and attach the log, or extract the pertinent parts of the log, which means Starting to Ending plus about 10 lines above and below. It may not do any good unless it gives a clear indication of what went wrong.
