Physical Memory Full

Help, my physical memory is at 97% all of a sudden and causing major lag in games. Nothing in the task manager is using that much memory so I don't know what's causing it. I have Windows 8.1 with 8 gigs.

Edit: I tried to restart and there is one app that isn't closing and preventing it from restarting. It doesn't tell me what the app is called. How do I find out what program that is?

Did to computer eventually restart, did you not have the option to go back to close the app and what were the last things you were doing when you decided to reboot? I had a similar problem on closing but it went away by itself.

All such programs are snake oil and worse than useless. They will not solve the problem but almost certainly make it worse. Microsoft has devoted an enormous amount of development time into Windows memory management and all these programs do is throw a wrench into it. At best all they do is make the numbers in Task Manager more attractive to those who do not understand them. I would not recommend such a program under any circumstances.

What we have here is a problem. The best way to solve a problem is to first obtain all relevant information. A screenshot of Task Manager - Performance tab would be a good start.

Cleanmem does not clean RAM, Windows does, Cleanmem only asks Windows to do it.

And no, it is not a snake oil, it saved me money, since I was unable to play games, because of low RAM messages. Cleanmem solved it. I did not have to buy more, like everyone said, that it was the only option.
