Solved Windows 8.1 slow icon loading

So my problem is, that when I start Windows, my Local Disk D folders (where I keep my pictures, music etc.) loads slowly.

Basically when I open this folder, there is no green loading thing, but just some icons don't show up. Some are grey (blank) icons and some are entirely without icons. It doesn't matter when I access these folders, computer could have run about hour and it does the slow loading and I could access it straight from startup and they won't show.

Once icons are loaded, they show up as they should be, until I shut down and start my computer again. I have also tried to put folder setting to general and that doesn't change anything.

Hope someone can help me.

You need to clean out your icon cache:
1. Delete the C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\IconCache.db file
2. Reboot PC

I have the same problem here, can't remember this being a problem in 8, think it came with 8.1, and yes i did a clean install between them. Should note that this only seem to happen once for as long as the computer is on, and won't happen again untill i reboot or turn the computer off and on.

It's like the computer needs to see through every file once it's up, and it's really slow doing it.
