Windows 8 Technical Issues

I've had my laptop for just under a year now, and throughout that year I've managed to mess it up on a level that astonishes me. I'm not sure how I messed it up, but after struggling with it by myself for a few weeks, I've decided to ask the community.

Problem 1: Driver issues

Ever since I accidently deleted my audio driver and had to restore my system to an earlier point, I've been unable to install any new hardware drivers. I recently borrowed a pair of headphones from my friend, but when I plugged them in, the driver wouldn't install and it's status went to "Driver not found. Needs troubleshooting". This also occurs with my Mp3 player. Troubleshooting finds nothing, and it's beginning to annoy me.

Problem 2: Metro apps will not open

After struggling with my pc problems, I decided that updating to windows 8.1 might fix any issues, but when I tried to open the marketplace, I was greeted with an error that prompted me to refresh my PC. Doing some research, I learned that refreshing my pc would delete all of my files, and I refuse to do that because I work using this computer. I've been told to turn on file history and create a backup, but my file history says I have no useable drives.

There are some other issues, but these are the big two. Any ideas?

What was the error number you received when you tried to enter the Windows Store?
Make sure that the updates in Windows Update are installed.

Run sfc /scannow in the elevated command prompt to fix any possible corrupt files. See this tutorial.

For your information if you do a Refresh, it will not delete your files (Reset will), only the applications would have to be reinstalled. You should always backup your files on a regular basis. This tutorial explains it and how to proceed if you so desire.

That kinda brings me to my next few problems. I found these two this morning.

3. Windows failed to configure updates

When I try to restart my computer, it tries to configure windows updates. When it fails, it says it's reverting changes, then waiting to retry. It restarts my computer and tries again. After an hour, the loop finally stops and I get to my login screen.

4. Temporary Login Account?

When I logged in, it said "preparing windows" and after a while, brought me to the start screen, which had none of my programs on it. I tried to restart again with the same result, and I decided to restore my system to a point I made earlier that day.

5. When I finished restoring and logged back in, I noticed that my audio driver was missing (no playback devices were available). I reinstalled it using the IDT audio driver installer (sp58668.exe), but nothing happened.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to refresh my system, so I think I'm gonna upload my major files and programs to a cloud storage website and redownload them once my laptop is refreshed.

Looks like your best option is to Refresh windows using the tutorial I provided. Your programs will have to be reinstalled.

Okay, so I've decided that's the best option. Refreshing my pc will keep everything in my C:/users/ Folder right? Including my desktop? So if I were to drag my Fl Studio folder onto the desktop, would it still be there when I refresh? That would be much easier than uploading everything.

You can't cheat the system. If you are thinking about F1 Studio, it is an application and will have to be reinstalled, the data will not.

Even if you put your installed programs into a zip file it will do no good because of the Registry will be changed. The registry will be modified only when you reinstall them.
