Hi Guys

when I bought my new Asus laptop, lady told me I should buy a 32 gb stick to back up o/s, as M/S no longer supply a recovery disk.

I did not want to do this wrong so I contacted MS help chat direct, but they lacked experience, so need some guidance please.

I started the sequence

control panel--recovery--create a recovery drive--then got a bit scared, have done a p/s for advice please.

I went throught it with MS but after booting up, I inserted stick, r/c, properties, stick was empty???

What do the abbreviations p/s and r/c mean?

You are doing the right thing. Did you complete the creation of the USB stick - I don't quite understand. You completed the creation and it says it is empty?

Once it is made you can test it, put it in a drawer and set your mind at rest. You may want to consider other backup options after of course. There are dozens of opinions on this subject :)

I thought the m/s techie had taken me through the whole process, but as I said, the only way I know how to test stick contents, are doing a r/c on said drive, I will do a p/s to show you.
