What is wrong with my Disc usage? 100% usage.

I am currently running Windows 8 (not 8.1), and have been experiencing difficulty with my disc usage. Programs (especially upon startup) have been unresponsive or painfully slow lately, and upon checking the Task Manager, the Disc Usage will be at 100% or close to 100%. I have also noticed this happening when starting large programs such as games and Word. There is no logical explanation from the Task Manager, the most I have seen a process using during these spikes is around 7MB, and it's formatted for 700 MBs. So, what is sucking up the Disc usage, and how, if at all possible, do I stop it?

Try Using Process Explorer Which provides the functionality of Windows Task Manager along with a rich set of features for collecting information about processes running on the user's system.

Download: Process Explorer

I downloaded it and tried it on my next startup, my Disc went to 100% for a while but it wasn't near as bad as it has been. When I started up skype it jumped to 100%, it was 0 before. That could be it, skype is what usually freezes and locks up the worst. But Task Manager doesn't show it using up that much Disc space, although Process Explorer showed the skype process as purple/blue quite a lot. I'm not sure what the color code indicates though.
