Speed up explorer loading.

When I launch file explorer in Windows 8.1 A Green Bar appears in the address bar and moves from left to right. Depending upon which folder I am in and whether or not I am accessing another disk drive this green bar moves fast or slow. When I am accessing a network drive it moves VERY slow and I have to wait 30 seconds to see the contents of the drive. How do I turn this feature off? Are there other ways of speeding up windows explorer loading?

Things to try:

1. Disable the Windows Search sevice via running services.msc and finding/disabling the service
(Caution: Metro search capabilities will be affected)

or

2. Rebuild your Search Index via Control Panel > Indexing Options
(not required if item 1. was done)

or

3. Uncheck to box in the pcture below for the drive in question
(note this will take some time to complete)



Since I do not use the Metro Search (I use explorer search only), I have elected to implement 1. and 3. on my PC and 2. takes care of itself. Hope this helps.

Might want to repeat step 3 for any other partitions or drives you have? For me I have C: through H: so I'm doing it for all of them.

Takes awhile so be patient.
