unable to back up my laptop windows 8.1

I have just upgraded from windows 8 to windows 8.1.I now find I cant back up my pc.I have tried 3 separate external drives to download to but each time I get the message I/o device error 0x8007045D.Anyone able to help?.

I have had times when I could not create images on my backup hard drives. In some cases, more than one. I believe it might be related to the System Volume Information files, but not really sure.

If you already have a WindowsImageBackup folder, you might try renaming it to show it came from a prior install, then try the image process again.

If that doesn't help, you might try creating a new partition on one of the drives large enough for the image and try saving it there.

If you are referring to a files type of backup, I have no experience since I don't use that procedure.

Switch to a different backup program, like Macrium Reflect Free or Acronis Trui Image (not free).
