I have had times when I could not create images on my backup hard drives. In some cases, more than one. I believe it might be related to the System Volume Information files, but not really sure.
If you already have a WindowsImageBackup folder, you might try renaming it to show it came from a prior install, then try the image process again.
If that doesn't help, you might try creating a new partition on one of the drives large enough for the image and try saving it there.
If you are referring to a files type of backup, I have no experience since I don't use that procedure.
